About

Completion: June 2015

Instrumentation: Bassoon and Marimba

Duration: 9' minutes approx.

Premier: Premiered at the Cortona Sessions in Cortona, Arezzo, Italy 07/12/2015

Program

This is the second work in a series about shrines. This duet was written for the Cortona Sessions in Italy. The unusual combination of bassoon and marimba combine to create a satisfying timbral palette. The work is inspired by the various dayscapes created by the sky. On cloudy days, it can seem like we look up into concrete rather than cloud. This works explores this overcast feeling of waiting for the sun, or the rain.
