'Talosian Soliloquy' is an out of the box tuba solo piece that is inspired by Star Trek. The unaired original pilot of the Star Trek saw the crew go to the planet Talos IV. What they don't know is that the inhabitants of the planet can weave powerful illusions over visitors. The tuba is often seen as a limited instrument and is unfortunately typecast into humorous roles. But, the tuba is quite capable of creating incredible soundscapes, especially through extended techniques. So much like the Talosians, the soloist will weave an illusion over the audience with sounds they have never imagined before.
