Here's what my collaborators
have to say:
"The Brockton Symphony Board of Directors and Music Director James M. Orent wished to feature a composition by David Vess as part of their 70 th season gala celebration. David wrote Ignite, an inspiring composition that was premiered in February of 2018. His piece is much more than a fanfare – it takes us on a journey with contrasts of colors and moods - fiery, misty, lyrical, and triumphant. The piece has catchy rhythmic motifs which contrast with the soaring lyrical sections. Our audience enjoyed seeing and experiencing the tone and sound of the trumpet section contrasted with the low trombones and tuba, and also the horn. Ignite is worth listening to again and again – Each time I listen, I hear more and more details about the story, the contrasts, the rhythms, the light, the dark, and the triumph, all of which somehow symbolize the 70-year history Brockton Symphony– and also inspire us with hope for the future of the Orchestra."
